Courses in Global Health and Nursing

School of Nursing, Chiba University provides two courses for undergraduate students to cultivate their global competencies and intercultural nursing skill.

Global Health and Nursing I

This course focuses on the socio-cultural and economic influences on people’s health through lectures by global experts. The course explores the concepts of global health, significant initiatives for disease prevention and health promotion, as well as culturally competent nursing practices.

Global Health and Nursing II

The goal of this course is to provide an immersive experience of intercultural nursing. Through direct contact with a distinct and unique socio-cultural environment, students will familiarize themselves with the current state of medical care and nursing; compare the impact of various social, economic, and cultural factors on the accessibility and quality of care; and cultivate cultural openness and sensitivity.

Students have the opportunity to visit a partner university abroad and interact with overseas students among the following locations:
Capstone College of Nursing, University of Alabama (USA), Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University (Thailand), University of Leicester (UK), School of Nursing, The University of Hong Kong (China) in 2018-2019.
