Director's Welcome

Yoshiko Wazumi, Ph.D.
Director, Collaborative Center for Development of Nursing Practice,
Education and Research, Graduate School of Nursing, Chiba University

The Center for Education and Research in Nursing Practice of Chiba University’s Graduate School of Nursing was established in April 1982 to conduct research, provide specialist training, and to be made available for utilization by instructors at nursing universities and researchers in the field of nursing. For more than 30 years, we have operated programs to improve nursing care by supporting nursing universities nationwide and continued learning for nursing practitioners. As a result of our achievements and contributions, we were certified as “The Center of Collaboration for Nursing Education and Research” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in March 2010, which makes us the only certified center in the nursing field.

Following certification, as The Center of Collaboration for Nursing Education and Research, we have been implementing training projects in faculty development (FD) for educators, staff development (SD) for nursing administrators and medical professionals in the field, and collaboration for nursing education and research, intended for nursing faculty instructors and professionals at medical facilities, such as public or private university hospitals in charge of on-site practices. In addition, with the support of MEXT, we have worked onut and led to positive results in major projects such as, “Development of restructured nursing development support program that links education with research and practice (2010-2014)”, “Development of FD mother map for nursing science education and promotion of joint use among universities (2011-2015)”, and “Development of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) model for nursing education and promotion of its utilization (2016-2019)”.

Also, from April 2021, in line with social chang, we have renewed the conventional knowledge-providing training business significantly, and we will develop a new business focused on “peer consultation among users”. This business will be promoted under the name “Society5.0 Nursing Care” Creation Base -Human-centered health support strategy that is co-created through peer consultation-”.

With the reorganization of the graduate school of nursing, Chiba University, the name of this center has been changed in line with the core philosophy of our new business “peer consultation”. The new name is “Collaborative Center for Development of Nursing Practice, Education and Research”. This name expresses the activity philosophy of a base for developing nursing science including practice, education, and research in collaboration with nursing professionals and their organizations nationwide that utilize the opportunities provided by this center.

Through a virtuous cycle of education, research, and practice, this center contributes to solutions for numerous social issues from the standpoint of nursing science, and we hope to continue our activities to support the promotion of a healthy and happy life for every nation. We look forward to co-creating with you toward this goal.
